Due to noise restrictions, loud rock bands are not feasable on a Wednesday night - however, all other forms of rock music and other acts are welcome. Thirty two bands will compete in eight weekly rounds – the weekly winner will play at two semi-finals, then the winner of each semi final will compete in the grand final. Runners up also getting the chance to play a runners’ up semi final and potentially compete in the grand final - Thursday 19 January 2012.

The West Australian Music Industry Association Inc. (WAM) exists to develop the contemporary music industry in Western Australia. WAM is a non-profit membership based association and the peak representative body for contemporary music in WA.
