2011 Kiss My WAMi Compilation

WAM are proud to announce the 2011 Kiss My WAMi CD/DVD compilation has been produced and is ready for distribution.

Featuring four discs, including three CDs and a video DVD, this year's compilation features over 70 exciting West Australian artists, including 59 tracks from established artists such as Birds of Tokyo, Jebediah, Abbe May and Felicity Groom, as well as emerging triple j favourites The Chemist, Sons of Rico, San Cisco, Pond and Split Seconds. The compilation also features 20 music videos including The Novocaines, The Brow Horn Orchestra, Emperors, Boys! Boys! Boys!, Schvendes and Georgi Kay.

The Kiss My WAMi CD/DVD compilation is released annually and distributed prior to the WAMi Festival. The compilation is distributed both nationally and internationally through WAM’s participation in conferences and showcase festivals including MIDEM, SxSW, CMW and CMJ.

Distribution of the compilation to current WAM Members begins in May - so grab a membership to get your very own copy!

The Kiss My WAMi compilation is produced annually and as part of the WAMi Festival - West Australia’s celebration of local original contemporary music.

Each year the WAMi Festival connects music lovers with artists in a range of showcases, events, awards and this compilation.

Kiss My WAMi 2011 features 59 tracks and 20 music clips from emerging and established artists from a range of genres prevalent in Western Australia - including indie, rock, hip hop, pop, punk, electro, jazz and country.

Thanks to the artists who submitted their material for the compilation, the independent panel who selected the artists, David Metcalf at Diskbank, Amanda Hay at redroom design and all the members, supporters and partners of WAM.

WAMi 2011 Performer & Compilation Application Process


WAM is excited to announce submissions are now open for original WA artists to feature on the Kiss My WAMi Compilation CD and to showcase during this year’s WAMi Festival, 21-28 May 2011.

The WAMi Festival is the annual celebration of the thriving original contemporary music industry in WA, attracting over 25,000 people over the course of the week.

Selected acts could be performing in one of this years many program features, including a diverse range of shows at the newly renovated Bakery (official WAMi Festival venue), outdoor shows and annual festival highlights - Northbridge Saturday Spectacular, WAMi Awards and closing party.

The Kiss My WAMi Compilation CD/DVD is widely distributed and is nationally recognized as a compilation featuring the best of WA music. Tracks and music clips selected to feature on the compilation stand to receive valuable exposure and promotion.

Submissions will be accepted electronically through Sonicbids or physical application. All original WA acts are encouraged to apply, and there are a limited number of showcase opportunities for guest acts from outside WA.

Submissions close 5:00pm AWST Friday 4 March 2011
* Items postmarked by 5:00pm Fri 4 Mar will also be accepted *

About Brooke
Brooke has performed varied roles in the West Australian arts and music industry over the last 14 years. From her beginnings at Fremantle Arts Centre, Brooke progressed to the role of Program and Events Manager at KULCHA, before working in various capacities at Sunset Events on such large scale festivals as Southbound, West Coast Blues n Roots, St Jerome’s Laneway and One Movement.

Joining the WAM in January 2011, Brooke brings band management skills, has chaired the Propel Youth Arts Board of Management, and coordinated the ‘Next Big Thing’ band showcase competition.
