Entry to the Music Industry Sundowners is generally FREE of charge for all current WAM members
who pre-register, unless otherwise stated.
Non WAM members who are APRA or MEAA members will need to register with their respective organisation.

WAM, APRA and the MEAA continue to join forces for 2012, and are excited to announce the launch of the 2012 Music Industry Sundowner Series by hosting an exclusive Legal Session with Michael Tucak of Creative|Legal.

The topic for this first session will be Setting up your Music Business, with Michael Tucak covering the essentials of turning your music or band into your own music business.

  • Partnerships and companies
  • Standard performance contracts
  • Business structures
  • How to get your ABN and business name

Setting up your Music Business

Presented by WAM, APRA, MEAA & Creative|Legal

Presenter: Michael Tucak, Creative|Legal
Time: 6:00pm - 7:30pm, with networking time after the session
Venue: The Rosemount Hotel, 459 Fitzgerald Street, North Perth
Cost: Free for WAM members who register before midnight Sunday 25 March

Michael Tucak is Principal Lawyer at Creative|Legal. He has over 15 years experience in entertainment law and intellectual property, including at Mushroom Group and SONY BMG Music Entertainment. Michael’s core legal expertise is in both music and film, as well as in cross-platform and transmedia, with the ability to apply commercial legal analysis and solutions alongside a strong understanding of creative and entrepreneurial work.

About Alexis


Alexis Courtin arrived in Australia from Belgium in 2007, opening the door on the West Australian arts sector by becoming KULCHA's Program Manager between 2008 and 2011.

Joining WAM in 2012, Alexis has previously worked two and half years in Paris for Pro/Art, implementing Qwartz, the international network for new and electronic music, and coordinating the annual Qwartz Electronic Music Awards.

In Brussels, Alexis became publicity and tour assistant at Crammed Discs, an independent, international record label whose output blends world music, rock, pop, and electronica.

In his role as Project Officer Alexis manages the WAM Song of the Year, WA's premier songwriting competition, is the WAM proxy on the CONTROL steering committee, and produces a number of music events on WAM's behalf such as Sunday Bands in the City.

In 2012 Alexis continues to develop WAM Workshops - an initiative delivering year round professional development and networking opportunities to WA musicians and music industry professionals.
