WAM Song Of The Year 2010 Coming Soon!GEORGI KAY WINS
WAM SONG OF THE YEAR 2010


Local singer/songwriter Georgi Kay was awarded the WAM Song Of The Year Grand Prize for her song, Breakfast In Bedlam, at the Presentation Ceremony on 13 October 2010. The award carried a prize of $5,000 cash, opportunity for a publishing deal with Perfect Pitch Publishing, 3 days recording with Poons Head Studio, mastering with James Hewgill Music and a run of 500 CDs supplied by DiskBank.

Georgi Kay had earlier taken out the School Age 15-17 Years Category, making her the first School Age Category winner in the history of the competition to win the Grand Prize.

Georgi Kay was presented with her award by the Hon. Dr Graham Jacobs MLA - Minister for Mental Health at the annual WAM Song Of the Year Presentation Ceremony, held at the Fly By Night Musicians’ Club in front of a full house of nominees, fans, sponsors and Industry VIPs.

Minister Jacobs spoke of the importance of music in the area of mental health prevention and treatment, and also presented the Mentally Healthy category won by Simone Keane with her song Rag Doll.

Multiple Grammy Award winner Lucky Oceans hosted the evening, keeping the audience engaged throughout the night, with musical entertainment provided by Umpire, Stoop Fresh, Minute 36, and Polly Medlen.

The Most Popular Song, as publicly voted by perthnow.com.au visitors, was Take Me Home by Them Little Secrets and Fred Rea.

The 2010 WAM Song Of The Year was presented in partnership with the Mental Health Commission of WA to raise awareness of the benefits of creative activities such as song writing to people’s mental health. Support also comes from Major Sponsor APRA | AMCOS; Print Media Sponsor, The Sunday Times; and Online Partner, Perthnow.com.au(.)

A good old-fashioned Recording Studio, centrally located, (near Curtin Uni) with  plenty of acoustically sound space for most set-ups(up to 5-piece groups with drums, or small choirs) and classic gear including vintage microphones (Neumann, AKG) and analogue console  happily interfaced with the computer (Cubase, etc.) for high resolution, “organic” recording, mixing and mastering.

Plus Andrew, a good old-fashioned recording engineer with over 30 years experience and an interest in all music.With a particular passion for anything acoustic and original,Andrew started “Homegrown” on UVS-FM (now on RTRfm) back in 1980.

Lollybox, the recording division of Sonic Lolly (Australia), is the creative home of industry veteran producer / composer / recording artist Noah Shilkin.

Idyllically situated on 8 acres just outside of Margaret River, Lollybox Studios are both a creative and innovative approach to musical recording projects. Sonic Lolly's philosophy draws on the famous George Martin quote that states "All You Need Is Ears".

The equipment is never the focus but merely the transparent tool with which to achieve the desired sonic results. Knowing when to "hit record" is key to the production and development approach at Lollybox. 
 




Studio experience and excellent recording technique are applied to garner and capture the very best arrangements, song structures and ultimately performances.

Pricing is based on a per song/project basis (not an hourly rate).
