Too Solid Fetival 2010

MUSICAL MELTING POT TO CELEBRATE AUSTRALIA DAY

The City of Perth, Abmusic and 100.9fm Noongar Radio is pleased to present a musical melting pot of entertainment for the Too Solid Music Festival in the Supreme Court Gardens on Australia Day 2010.

Award winning desert-rock-reggae group The Yabu Band and pioneering Perth hip hop outfit Downsyde will headline the festival in Supreme Court Gardens. The Too Solid Music Festival is set to be a family friendly celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander music and culture – a celebration for all Australians.

Noongar Radio CEO Michelle White said festival goers would be treated to a showcase of some of Western Australia’s best Indigenous and non-Indigenous bands. “Like Noongar Radio’s music mix, this festival really does offer something for everyone; from reggae to rock, to country and hip-hop.” Ms White said.

The main ‘Too Solid’ stage will feature Yabu Band, Downsyde, Black Poet, Bartlett Brothers, Walkabout Boys, Blue Shaddy, Lorrae Coffin Band and Warangka.

The second ‘Abmusic’ stage will showcase some of Perth’s up and coming talent such as Jamahl Ryder, Tiara Garlett, Kolo Yeddi, Bryte MC, Old Flames Band and Moana Dreaming.

Abmusic Festival coordinator Jade Masters said the event will provide all Australians with the opportunity to appreciate the diversity and strength of Indigenous culture. “We will have a corroboree dance circle, traditional dance workshops for young people and host of proud Indigenous organizations on display.”

The Festival will provide a special VIP area for Elders with Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service providing free refreshments for Elders. The smoke and alcohol free event is proud to promote the Heathway message Respect Yourself, Respect Your Culture.

The Too Solid Music Festival will take place in the Supreme Court Gardens from 12.15pm to 7.30pm on Australia Day, 26 January. The Festival forms part of the City of Perth Australia Day Community Celebrations.
