Sunday Bands in the City is set to add holiday cheer to Forrest Place as part of the City of Perth Festival of Christmas. Enjoy live performances from local Western Australian bands each Sunday afternoon in December from 1pm.

The Darling Buds of May

The Darling Buds of May bring a fresh take on 1920s dixieland jazz, 1940s and 50s swing, early rock 'n' roll, and blues along with some funk and latin. So get your dancing shoes on because this versatile and charismatic band swings like a gate in a storm!



Sunday 12 December
The Big Old Bears

Big Old Bears are a group of young musicians combining traditional folk & blues with contemporary music to create a new sound with an old-timey feel. With an array of songwriters, raw harmonies and the use of many different instruments, Big Old Bears are sure to keep your foot a-tapping!



Sunday 19 December
Ben Matthews Quartet
(Note - venue change to Myer Micro Stage on Murray St Mall)

Local jazz outfit, the Ben Matthews Quartet, comprises of Ben Matthews on piano, Gareth Hughes on double bass, Naomi Tan on drums and Rhiannan Longley on vocals. While away your Sunday afternoon to their blend of jazz, specially catered for the festive season.

About Sunday Bands in the City
Following a successful 2010 season, the City of Perth & WAM are proud to bring back in 2011 SUNDAY BANDS IN THE CITY, a series of free all ages events featuring live WA acts in the heart of the city at Forrest Place.

Each month these concerts feature a lineup of top quality local acts, performing from 1:00pm - 3:00pm.

The coordinator for the Sunday Bands in the City 2010-11 Season was Daphne Tan.
