Dan Minchin MBA, BA (Hons)

Dan Minchin is Head of Strategy at Silver Chain, one of Australia's largest community health and aged care providers. In this role, Dan is responsible for driving the development and implementation of the organisation's strategy. He takes a particular interest in finding ways to measure the social impact of Silver Chain, and in using that rigour to improve services, performance and the social dividend reaped for every taxpayer or donor dollar invested.

Previously, as a senior consultant with Barrington Consulting Group, Dan advised some of Western Australia best-known not-for-profits, government corporate sector organisations on Board governance, strategy and strategic management.

Dan was a guitarist and vocalist in a number of original and cover bands throughout the 1990’s. He was a member of Timmy the Dog when that band released the 2000 album, Sit, and features in a small way on the soundtrack of the recently-released Perth film Two Fists One Heart.

Being involved in the WAM board has given Dan the opportunity to stay connected with the exciting Perth scene. He greatly enjoys being able to contribute in enabling local industry participants to get the most out of their music.

By applying his wide-ranging strategy experience in the WAM context, Dan hopes to assist the organisation have a big impact in WA.

Andy is a policy analyst and strategist with the Department of Housing. In this role, he develops and implements strategies, policies and projects to support Government to achieve its goal of generating an additional 20,000 affordable homes by 2020. He focuses on developing innovative and commercially-driven solutions to increase the supply of affordable housing.

Andy has previous policy analyst experience with the consumer protection, commerce, planning, arts, and housing portfolios. He is also a qualified project manager.

Andy has been a WAM member (on and off) since 2002. He was elected to the Board in 2009. He currently holds the positions of Vice President and Acting Treasurer. From 2009-2011 he held the position of Secretary. He participated in the CEO Contract Review and CEO Performance Review committees.

Andy is also a local musician. He has played in numerous bands since arriving in Perth in 2000. He has run open mic nights at the Leederville Hotel and Indi Bar. He is currently the lead guitarist and singer of The Warm Ups.

Andy is a passionate advocate for the contemporary music industry. He once aspired to be a professional musician but lacked the knowledge and training to follow his dream. Andy’s experiences as an amateur musician drive him to help WAM develop the contemporary music industry in WA and assist aspiring musicians to have viable professional careers.

In the next two years, Andy would like to see WAM diversify its product offering and sponsorship base, reduce its reliance on Government funding and significantly increase its membership. By improving these aspects of the business, WAM will better serve the Western Australian contemporary musician industry, strengthen its ability to work with Government and commercial partners, create flexibility within its business model and provide new opportunities for contemporary musicians to develop and practice their craft.

Louise Ardagh BA English

Louise has significant marketing and sponsorship experience which she has gained over a twenty year career working in senior corporate marketing and agency roles both in Australia and overseas.

Louise is currently Head of Product Marketing (Retail) for Bankwest and is responsible for the national marketing for the bank’s credit, mortgage and deposit products. Louise returned to Perth in 2008 after a seven year stint in Shanghai China. It was as CEO at Frontiers Group, a China-based sponsorship consultancy, which Louise brokered and delivered sports and entertainment events with international brands in China. In this role, Louise worked extensively with local and international promoters who brought Western musical theatre to China and developed and delivered national events across the country. Prior to China, Louise worked in Melbourne in agency and corporate marketing roles and brokered and delivered a number of sponsorships including iconic Australian events such as Sydney 2000 Olympic Games and the Australian Grand Prix.

Louise brings extensive sponsorship and marketing experience to the Board and a passion for contributing to Perth’s contemporary music scene.

Steven McCabe is a Director in KPMG’s Restructuring Services team, a division that specialises in advising stakeholders of underperforming or stressed organisations to identify and implement solutions that maintain control and rebuilt sustainable value.

Steven has over 12 years experience in Perth and London specialising in providing advice to stakeholders in respect of business stabilisation, governance, strategy, and cash and financial management. He is experienced in assisting stakeholders to execute financial recovery strategies and turnaround plans, and in corporate acquisitions and divestments.

His sector experience includes: engineering and mining services; private equity; property; wholesaling; hospitality; information technology; forestry; retail; automotive; government; and oil and gas services.

In his spare time, Steven relives his thespian youth by attending local theatre and live music performances, and enjoys ongoing battles with his dusty classical guitar and piano teacher.

Susan Clarke

She has a broad range of experience and skills in the in the music industry currently lecturing and coordinating the Diploma in Music (Contemporary Song-writing) at the Great Southern Institute of Technology.

For the past three years she has been the music manager for Xave Brown. As a manager, Susan has a good understanding of the music industry and the radical upheaval it’s currently facing due to changing technology. Her attendance and participation in the JB Seed management workshop in the Blue Mountains, the Australian Music Business conference, the Sydney Song Summit and numerous WAMi conferences has keep her up to date with industry issues and industry contacts.

Susan is also a talented musician and has been a co-chair of Denmark music industry group, Denmusic.

Her professional background includes working in cultural development, event and festival management, project development and administration and working with funding bodies.

Antonella De Gregoriis
Board Member since 2012

Antonella De Gregoriis has been part of the Perth local music scene since 1999. A graduate of TAFE’s Music Industry Skills and Sound Production courses, she has worked as a promoter and manager for a range of Perth original music bands, including one of Perth’s most popular heavy bands Full Scale Deflectio. She also managed Karnivool, who have become WA’s most popular and successful heavy act. Throughout her time with the band she also acted as their tour manager, promoter and publicist.

She also managed Leigh Miller who is a double bassist/arranger/composer, playing for the Canberra Symphony Orchestra. Mark Hough
Board Member since 2011


Mark Hough, better known as Buster Stiggs, was the manager, drummer and songwriter for the New Zealand band The Swingers. The Swingers were awarded Gold Records in Australia and New Zeeland, for the song "Counting the Beat". Buster was also a songwriter and performer with the Models, who supported The Police on their Australian Tour at the peak of their popularity playing to crowds of up to 40,000 people. The Models were voted into the 2011 ARIA Hall Of Fame.

Buster graduated from the Elam School of Fine Arts and was awarded the Auckland Art Society Ivy Copland Award for Portraiture and was a finalist in the Benson & Hedges Art Award Finalist. Buster has worked as a graphic artist and was awarded an ARIA Award for Album Cover Design.

Buster has been nominated for WAM Song of the Year with his acoustic band Cat Beach and his Bees Knees Kid Show project.

Buster has also produced and organised Aboriginal Cultural Celebrations with the City of Perth and the Festival of Fremantle.



Mark Hough
Board Member since 2011

He has performed in a wide range of styles from blues, rock and country to the progressive folk of popular acts Devils on Horseback, The Press Gang and more recently, his own Miles To Go band, which has become an Australian festival favourite and has been eight times nominated for "Best World Music Act" at the WAMi awards.

A respected session guitarist and producer, David is known for his work with a range of WA artists and has worked as sideman to a number of international acts. He has composed for documentary and feature film, with his music being aired on numerous TV soundtracks.

David has been involved in developing young and emerging talent in community music projects all over the state, from the Central Desert community of Jameson (Mantamaru) to the Cocos Islands' Cocos Malay community. He also runs numerous workshops on songwriting and music production in communities, schools and WA's prisons.

David is a long standing WAM board member, and was awarded honorary life membership in 2010. He is also a member of DCA's Contemporary Music panel, APRA, the Fremantle Cultural Development Working Group and the MEAA.

David also has a background in law, with his 12 years experience as a lawyer including Native Title and Mining negotiations with the WA Aboriginal Legal Service and the Goldfields Land Council.

Noah Shilkin

He has worked with international recording artists ranging from Alanis Morissette to AC/DC and was keyboardist for legendary New Zealand cult band Mother Goose. His songwriting catalogue boasts more than 300 songs and includes the Voodoo Opera "Under a Mardi Gras Moon".

A love of technology has put Noah at the forefront in the field of computers and music and he has consulted to Apple, Digidesign, Emu Systems and New England Digital. Industry affiliations include SOCAN, BMI, FACTOR, AES and Canada Arts Council where he has worked in many capacities ranging from song reviewer, panellist, guest speaker and educator. Logging over 3000 live performances around the world he continues to play to a loyal following just because it’s fun and as he says “that’s where it all starts”.

A lifelong passion for and commitment to music sees Noah contributing as a consultant to the international music business while he continues to develop his own craft and the careers of emerging talent and artists.

Callum Moncrieff BPerf.Arts(Music)(Hons)

Callum Moncrieff is currently the General Manager of the WA Youth Jazz Orchestra. His previous positions include working in the Artistic Planning Department of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and serving as Operations Manager of the Western Australian Youth Music Association. Callum also served as the WA Youth Orchestra Tour Operations Manager for the Europe Tour in 2006.

Callum completed a Bachelor of Performing Arts in music with first class honours in 2007, where he was awarded the Most Outstanding Student in Classical Music at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).

Callum regularly writes columns and music reviews for ArtsHub and Classical Source. His honours thesis, Performance and Rehearsal Practices for Minimalist Music, specifically related to Music for Eighteen Musicians by Steve Reich, was published by VDM VerLag.

As a musician Callum continues to perform in numerous bands in various styles. He plays drums for Sir Thomas and with Helen Shanahan. He is a member of the Annexia Ensemble, formed to play the music of composer Chris de Groot, and the Ecila Ensemble, performing the works of Alice Humphries, and has performed with the Mace Francis Orchestra, fused and for the Musica Viva series, Ménage.

An active commissioner of new music, Callum has previously commissioned Andrew Ford, Christopher de Groot and Mace Francis to write works that he has premiered. Callum was awarded an Arts Development grant from the Department of Culture and the Arts to commission three new works for the vibraphone by James Ledger, Johannes Luebbers and Alex Morris.

Simon Reed B Ec/LLB (Hons)

Simon Reed is a partner in the corporate group of law firm Freehills. Simon has over 12 years experience advising in relation to corporate law. He advises on general corporate matters including public company takeovers, private M&A, equity capital fundraising, corporate reconstructions and general compliance matters.

Simon has also advised a number of not-for-profit organisations in WA, including RSPCA WA and Foodbank of WA.

Simon is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has provided training to AICD members in relation to not-for-profit organisations.



Simon Reed B Ec/LLB (Hons)
Board Member since 2009


Simon Reed is a partner in the corporate group of law firm Freehills. Simon has over 12 years experience advising in relation to corporate law. He advises on general corporate matters including public company takeovers, private M&A, equity capital fundraising, corporate reconstructions and general compliance matters.

Simon has also advised a number of not-for-profit organisations in WA, including RSPCA WA and Foodbank of WA.

Simon is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has provided training to AICD members in relation to not-for-profit organisations.



Daniel Romeo BBA (Curtin)
Board Member since 2009


Daniel is the Group Marketing & Online Manager with one of WA's largest Automotive Groups, DVG where he is responsible for group advertising including developing and maintaining brand presence on radio, television and online. Daniel specialises in developing and facilitating the online marketing strategy. He also oversees the operations SmartClub which that provides membership rewards including ongoing discounts and value propositions.

He is owner of Harpoon Productions which provides recording, performance, launching promotion and marketing for many local bands. He is currently recording original material from Luke McPharlin from the Fremantle Dockers.

Daniel is lead singer and guitarist for local band Stellas Kitchen.

Daniel has been an active musician for over 20 years, of which he's been in numerous original and cover bands and attended Perth Modern School, specialising in music.

Joel Quartermain is a current and founding member of multiple ARIA, APRA, ISC & WAMi award winning band Eskimo Joe. Not just a drummer and guitarist in a rock band, Joel also knows his way around a recording studio and has lent his ear, hand, heart and natural pop sense to Perth records of recent years. Running the production side of Dirt Diamonds Productions, Joel has been integral in the forward aim and strategy of the company as well as his own band.
